I installed Ubuntu 16.04 LTS on my gaming PC this week on a separate drive to try and use it for Rails development. So far it’s working well for me.
I’ve got a Crossover 27-144FAST monitor which I bought from eBay from a Korean seller. It’s fab! Gaming at 144hz really is lovely.
However, Ubuntu and Nvidia don’t seem to like this monitor so much. The screen resolution is fixed and cannot be changed to the 2560x1440 that it should be.
After a lot of Googling, I found this post which helped me get it up and running even though they were talking about a different Korean monitor.
Below is my /etc/X11/xorg.conf
file
Once you’ve added the contents of that file, reboot and it should be in glorious 2560x1440!
