Everyone receives too much email with most of it being newsletters or spam.

I’ve recently started filtering my email using Fastmail’s filtering system. This can also be done using Gmail’s system but I use Fastmail for my email these days.

If an email I receive has any of these conditions in the message then it is moved to a “Low Priority” folder:

• save you money on
• no longer wish to receive
• any more emails
• short online survey
• free entry
• receive further communication
• opt out
• unsubscribe

I’ve also got similar filters for moving emails from GitHub into their own folder as well as Twitter.

So far, these filters are working really well and they are keeping my Inbox free of crap. It also prevents my phone from going off every time I receive an email!
